Review: SBC 3 in 1 Collagen Cleanser

Hello, Hello, Hello!

I am back with another review and today I am talking about the 3 in 1 Collagen Cleanser by SBC that was kindly sent for me to review. 

SBC (Simply Beautiful Cosmetics) is a British brand that has been around for over 25 years but I have only recently discovered it in the past couple of months! 

I am obsessed with cleansing. Cleansing for me is absolutely key as 

clean skin = happy skin. 

I like to think I pretty much have my skin routine down, But I am always on the lookout for exciting and innovative skincare. This specific cleanser appealed to me as it is a 3 in 1 product. This has said to be a cleanser, a mild exfoliant and also helps your skin to feel moisturised and hydrated.

As directed, I placed two to three pumps of cleanser onto dry skin. In circular motions, I then massaged the product over my eyes, face and neck. On first impressions, I  really liked the consistency of this cleanser, it was very creamy and wasn't too thick. I was a little apprehensive about putting cleanser over my eyes although it didn't cause any irritation and didn't sting. In addition, I really like the scent of this product as it was subtle and very fresh. 

I must say that I wasn't a massive fan of the shammy cloth to begin with. Normally, I would remove my cleanser with a muslin cloth or use a cleansing brush to massage the product in and then would wash off my cleanser with warm water. However, After regular use, It has actually started to grow on me and I am starting to enjoy removing my makeup with this cloth. 

Something to be aware of: After using the cloth, leave it out to dry. The cloth will then turn completely solid but will soften again once added to warm water. I definitely had a wee panic as it turned very stiff but I'm guessing this is normal.

As I always double cleanse, I wouldn't usually use this product to remove my makeup alone. But, I did put it to the test to see how well this cleanser removes a full face of makeup. Yes I mean foundation, eyeliner, lippy, mascara, the lot! and I must say I was very impressed. I am partial to lashings of mascara (pardon the pun) and the cleanser did manage to remove all of my makeup. Thumbs up!

After wiping away the cleanser with the shammy, my skin felt super soft and looked brighter and my face felt firmer. Since using this product, I haven't been reaching for my other cleansers as much and I am loving the results so far.

I really enjoyed using this product and I would highly recommend this for someone who is looking to buy a new cleanser.

Review: Award Winning Timeless Truth Collagen Mask

Aloha!

Sheet Masks are everywhere right now and I wanted to put them to the test to see what what all the hype is about!

In Today's post, I am writing a review on the award winning Bio-Culluose Apple Stem Cell Collagen Mask from the brand 'Timeless Truth' who kindly sent me this product to review. This Mask features Stem Cells which help to stimulate the skin, repair damaged tissue and delay signs of ageing. It is also combined with Marine Collagen which helps people who suffer with tired and dehydrated skin.

This mask can be used on all skin types.

As recommended, I stored my mask in the fridge for a few hours before application so that it was nice and cool. You can also place it in warm water if you want more of a comforting and pampering experience.

As I removed the mask out of the packaging, I found that it was very fiddly to remove the protective layers as the packet was full of serum, so it was quite tricky to get a good grip of the mask. Although the left over product does come in handy afterwards!

After removing the outer layers, I gently placed the mask over my face and positioned it so that my eyes and mouth were in alignment with the appropriate gaps. There is also mini sheets attached to place over your eyelids, however personally I chose not to use them. I then pressed my hands over the mask just to make sure the mask was sitting smoothly on the skin with no lumps or folds and then I let the mask do its work!

I must say this mask didn't feel uncomfortable at all! It was breathable and It didn't feel like it was irritating or harming my skin. In Addition, I was expecting it to have a really overpowering apple scent but I was pleasantly surprised that it had almost no scent at all!

In the instructions given, It says to leave this mask on for 15-20 minutes, however I did end up leaving it on for about 30 minutes in total. As there was still quite a large amount of serum left over, I used it to massage over my neck and decolletage and this was definitely a game changer for me. I am all about using multi purpose products and If I can use a collagen treatment for my face, neck and body then I am sold.

After 30 minutes, I removed the mask and my skin did look totally refreshed! just like I woken up from 10 hours sleep. I asked my boyfriend what he thought and he genuinely noticed that my skin looked noticeably firmer and brighter...and if a man notices a difference then we are onto a winner! What I also like about this product is that you don't need to wash it off afterwards. As directed in the instructions, massage the excess product into the skin and follow on with your normal skincare routine afterwards. 

I must say I am totally converted! yes it was a little fiddly but practise makes perfect and my skin felt really refreshed and revitalised afterwards. I think after regular use,  you would visibly be able to see increasingly more results. I would absolutely recommend this product!

This mask is to be used once only and is disposable.

12 Of The Best Mascaras To Buy Right Now

Hi my names Paige and I am addicted to mascara. 

(All together now! Hi Paige.....)

Personally, I feel bare without wearing mascara and I never leave the house without a light coating on my lashes!....sometimes I am partial to a bit of  #spiderlashes but you know whatever floats your boat! I just feel that it makes me look a wee bit more awake and If I was to only wear one product on my face, it would be mascara.

Homemade Face mask Recipe

Hello Gorgeous!

I hope you are all having a lovely week so far! 

...And if you arent, then I have a recipe that might just brighten your day.. It will certainly brighten up your skin!

 I have had such a busy week and I must say I'm in need of a good pampering session!
(Yes don't we all Paige!)

What better way to start treating ourselves than with a facemask!  I have also recently noticed that my skin is more oily than usual and this breakfast themed mask works perfectly to reign in the excess moisture.

Caution:
 I wouldn't advise eating this mask....but if you do have a wee nibble...I won't judge!

Of course if you own mask treatments already at home then fab! But if not, why not use ingredients that are in our fridges and cupboards!

Homemade Breakfast Facemask

What you need:

1 bowl.
1 egg (egg whites)

1 tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1/2 Cup of Oats

1 tablespoons of Honey 

Why is this mask good for my skin?

Homemade masks are great as they are 100% natural and you are in full control of what you are putting onto your skin.

Why should I use these ingredients?

Egg white helps to soothe and tighten the skin.

Olive Oil is great as it adds hydration to the skin, prevents free radical damage and it also contains anti-ageing properties.

Oatmeal has a multitude of benefits but this works wonders to soothe and calm and skin. It is also full of antioxidants.

And lastly, Honey is super moisturising. It is also an anti-inflammatory which is fantastic for people who suffer with acne.

Honey is also an anti-bacterial.

Sound Good? Lets Get to it!

What to do:

Add the egg white with olive oil and honey into a bowl and mix together. Then add half a cup of oats to the bowl and continue to stir the mixture.

Then, apply to the skin evenly and leave the mask on for 20 minutes.

Remove the mask with warm water and then follow up with your normal skincare routine.Ta da!

Summer Shade Wishlist

Hello Gorgeous!

A pair of sunglasses can add an edge to any outfit and are essential from protecting us from the sun....and also hangovers, bad makeup days, getting caught out peeping at strangers....you know the drill.

Even though it is summer, I doesn't really feel like it here in the UK. I am currently staying at my parents house in Scotland and as per usual, it's pretty damn cold. However that doesn't stop me rocking out in my shades...yes I am one of those idiots you see walking down the street with a pair of sunglasses on when its dull outside... I just cant help myself!

To brighten up your day, I have created a little list of my favourite summer shades. Whilst creating this board, I suddenly realised that I am a little bit cat eye obsessed! does anyone else get like this? I always find that I gravitate towards the same style and then when I come to picking out a pair of glasses to wear day to day, They all look the same. oopsee my bad!

Review: Sleek 'Solstice' Palette

Hello Everyone!

Today's post is a review on the 'Solstice Highlighting Palette' from Sleek Cosmetics.

 There has been a lot of hype about this palette over the past few months! I was very keen to try this out as I love a good glow and wanted to see what all the fuss was about!

For Starters, Lets talk about this packaging! I am in love with gold right now and this product looks so luxurious. At a first glance, you would never have known this was from Sleek .....unless you are beauty obsessed and had sourced it out before hand!

This Palette Consists of 4 highlighting shades: 

Two Baked powders,

One shimmer powder,

One cream highlight.

This also comes with a mini brush for application, Personally, I tend to not use these brushes as I never feel like they do the job properly....But they are always handy to keep in your handbag when on the go and in need a quick touch up. 

The baked highlighter duo and the light shimmer powder are highly pigmented and don't feel cakey on the skin at all. In addition, they are extremely long lasting and I never feel the need to re-apply throughout the day.

I will be honest in saying that I was a little apprehensive whilst testing out the Lavender shade (top right) as I naturally gravitate towards more warmer shades of highlight. However I was pleasantly surprised and this cool tone looks beautiful on the skin...and its good to mix things up once in a while! 

The Cream Highlight is more subtle and gives a lovely natural glow. If you are not used to working with cream products then this would be a great place to start! It is smooth and is very easy to blend  so no need worry about patchy highlight! 

I must say I really like this palette! The packaging is gorgeous and the highlighters are absolutely divine. 

I've spent a good couple of weeks trying it out and I have nothing bad to say about it. Thumbs up all round! I have actually been grabbing this palette more often than my other more luxurious highlighters...that's saying something!

A Guide To: Why We Must Wear SPF

Hello You Lovely Lot!

I hope you are all having a great week so far! 

Summer is a time for relaxing with friends and family and making most of the good weather....If we are lucky enough to experience some nice weather here in the UK!

Summer is also a time that we need to look after our skin the most as rising temperatures and excessive exposure to the sun can damage the skin.

I can honestly say that in the past, I was careless when it came to using Sun protection. Being Scottish, I am naturally quite pale and although I have always wore sunscreen on holidays, I didn't realise just how important it was to wear protection on a daily basis.......until now!

What is SPF?

SPF stands for 'Sun protection Factor'.

SPF is essential to prevent against premature ageing, burning and skin cancer. Many people believe that UV damage only affects us in direct sunlight. However, Ultra Violet Rays can penetrate through clouds including during the winter months! Even in snow!

It is vital that we always protect ourselves.

There are two types of UV Damage

UVA

A For 'Ageing' 

UVA damage penetrates deep into the skin's dermis which causes wrinkling and premature skin ageing.

UVA can also penetrate through glass. If you are sitting in a car, you are still exposed to ultra violet rays.

UVB

B For 'Burning'

UVB causes direct damage to the top layer of our skin (The Epidermis) and is the main cause of sunburn.

 UVB causes damage all year round.

• If you burn once in the space in two years, it can TRIPLE your chances of developing skin cancer in the future.

Obviously, I am not writing this trying to scare you in any way, however it does make us start to question if we are doing the upmost to protect ourselves.

In The UK:

• 14,509 new cases of skin cancer were reported in 2014
• 86% of these cases could have been prevented by wearing SPF.
• 2,459 people died of skin cancer in 2014.

Remember.....prevention is better than the cure!

When do we need to wear SPF?

 SPF is the most important ingredient in our skincare routine. This is for all skin types and should be applied after your daily moisturiser.

Apply SPF in the morning and or throughout the course of the day. SPF is not needed to wear at night.

Quick Reminder: SPF takes 20 minutes to fully activate after application.

What type of SPF should i be looking for?

  A great way to get incorporate SPF into your daily routine is by using sunscreen. In addition look out for foundations and moisturisers which contain a level of SPF.

• For Effective Sun protection, look for products with a level of at least SPF15.

Natural SPF

SPF is not only essential for those with fair skin tones but also for those with darker skin tones.

Darker skin types have a higher protective amount of melanin in the skin however this doesn't mean that the skin isn't exposed to UV damage.

Those with darker skin tones have a natural SPF of around 13
compared to those with paler skin tones which only have a natural SPF of around 3. This is does vary from skin tone to skin tone.

How To Get Your Life In Order Over The Weekend

                                                                 

Thank Goodness its Friday!

 For a lot of us the weekend is a time that we can wind down after what may be a stressful week at work.

I always feel like the weekend flies by and before you know it its Sunday night again and you are having to prepare for the week ahead. This post will hopefully make things a little easier and help you get on top of things over the weekend!

Pamper yourself

Start with whats most important. yourself of course!
Take a bit of timeout and indulge. Whether that's having a warm candlelit bubble bath, getting round to painting your nails or drowning yourself in moisturiser, you deserve it!

Write a set of daily goals no matter how big or small

Are you a Procrastination King or Queen?
Writing down goals and to do lists can help to motivate and do things you can easily forget about or leave until last minute. Got to put that Pile of Laundry away? Got errands to run? Fancy escaping to a dessert island for a month?
Write it down!

Get some fresh air

 Taking 20 minutes out of your day to get outside and go for a walk or a run or a skip (whatever your into) is an effective way to reflect on the previous week. This is also a great time to relieve any stress as exercise releases Endorphin's which makes us feel instantly happier! Yipeee!

Get the tunes on!

Music can be a great motivator!
Sick of Cleaning up? Cant really be bothered? Create a playlist. Just think about it... 5 songs into your playlist....that's over 15 minutes of Cleaning Time! Tidying up may not be that bad after all!

Lets Meditate

Meditation is a fab way to unwind and leave all of your worries behind.
 It only takes a few minutes and can help boost your focus, attention and your ability to work under stress as well as many other benefits!

Reward Yourself 

Had your eye on that dress in the window? Fancy a cocktail (or mocktail) or two with your nearest and dearest? Go For it!
 There is nothing more satisfying than rewarding yourself for all the hard work you put in! Go on your worth it!
