Taking Time Out This December

Its festive season and lets face it, it can sometimes get a little overwhelming. From those fun fuelled parties to the stresses of christmas shopping, making family arrangements to sending cards to long lost relatives, It can all just get a bit much! Thats why I'm calling for everyone reading this to take a step back and have some me time.

As we approach the new year, many of us look at January and plan new goals, new starts and new adventures, but in order to really know what we want from the new year I always find its a good idea to have a bit of a self cleanse.

Whether thats a relaxing pamper evening snuggled up on the sofa, reading that new book everyones talking about, perhaps discovering a new found hobby or taking a wander round the park.

For me personally, I love walking and find that it is a great way to clear my head.  Since adopting our dachshund puppy 'Minnie' earlier this year, she has helped my discover my love for the great outdoors... and I don't mean just walking down to the shops for bits and bobs...although every little bit helps :)

On the weekends, I like to spend a some time at my nearest country park with my boyfriend Brad and our pup for an hour or so to get some fresh air an to unwind.  I find that this helps me reflect on the past week and have a clear mind for the week ahead! Theres something about this time of year which is just so beautiful and there's nothing better than wrapping up warm and taking a lazy stroll through the forest.

My Time Out Tips

Take A Break From Technology

 Yes it is possible!
When technology is everything, looking at emails, checking instagram pictures and seeing what Joe blogs down the road had for his dinner that evening....Go phone free. Its time to reconnect with our loved ones and look up. Spend time with the people that surround us.

Take as much time as you need

If there was ever a time to milk it, its now!
Find a time to fully relax without distraction and let your body fully rest up! My personal favourite is running a relaxing bubble bath with candles and all and shutting off from the world.

Lets get meditating!

This may be seem hard for those who struggle to switch off but when it comes to meditating, it doesn't mean we have to spend an hour out of our day sitting completely still... Figure out a routine that works for you. I like to meditate mainly in the evenings. whether thats lying in bed listening to some relaxation music or whilst sitting on the sofa for 10 minutes closing my eyes and having some quiet time.  This has really helped me to deal with stress and the more you get used to meditating the easier it becomes!

The Konjac Sponge Company: The Korean Beauty Sponge You Need To Try Right Now

Hello Lovely!

When it comes to Korean Beauty, It is said that they are 12 years ahead worldwide. It really is future of skincare!

Konjac sponges are super popular in Japan right now and luckily we now have access to this over in the UK!

The Konjac Sponge company are an award winning brand which are the first and largest company ever to produce Konjac skincare around the world. All of their products are hand tested for the purest quality of products and pride themselves on being completely natural, vegan friendly and cruelty free!

I was recently sent out one of their green clay facial sponges to try out and I couldn't wait to get in on the hype!

This green clay sponge is recommended for those with combination to oily skin and also is suitable for those who have sensitive skin.

What is Konjac?

Konjac comes from the Konjac potato plant grown in Asia. It is enriched with minerals, natural in PH and contains a multitude of health benefits including medicines, dietary supplements and also in skincare.

When it comes to exfoliation, it doesn't have to have to feel like your forever stripping the skin. This sponge is super gentle and works wonders in removing dead skin cells without rubbing or damaging the skins surface. This product works by gently working into the pores and deeply cleansing the face. The green clay works as an antibacterial to get rid of any dirt and grime that can be lingering on the skin, leaving you fresh as a daisy!

On first impressions, this sponge was a lot more compact than I thought. This would be fab for travelling and would comfortably fit into any beauty bag. No more slacking on our holiday skincare!

The sponge itself felt very luxurious and silky smooth. I started by soaking the sponge in warm water to soften and then in circular motions, massaged it all over the face concentrating on my T-zone, especially on my nose which has the largest pores. I was totally surprised at how amazing this felt. It literally felt like heaven! no scratching or pulling, it just glided with ease over my face.
I continued to massage the sponge in for around a minute and then squeezed the sponge with both palms of my hands to drain any excess water. It is recommend that you don't wring out this sponge as it may cause damage....and trust me you want want to be without it! I leave my sponge to dry on a bathroom hook and it is ready to use once again!

This sponge can be used with or without a cleanser.
I personally have been using this alongside my normal cream cleansers and it works perfectly to speed up the process of removing makeup. Plus it gives a much more successful cleanse than just using my hands alone. Over the years, i have tried using facial brushes, both manual and electric, facial cloths and sponges but this for me really stands out. Its simple in design yet so effective and impressive and I can honestly say everyone reading this should give it a try!

Konjac Sponge Company, you have me hooked!

Where can I find this??

NATURIGIN: NATURAL & ORGANIC HOME HAIR DYE REVIEW

Hello Lovely!

When it comes to some hair dye, I have had my fair share of a disasters in my time.

From the age of around 15, I started to experiment with hair colour and as a teen, I couldn't afford the dollar to have it professionally coloured so I looked towards home hair dye. I have never really stuck to a specific brand, I mostly just walked into the super market  had a wee look at the model on the box and see which colour I fancied at the time.  I never thought to even pay attention to what was inside the ingredients, I just thought as long as it wasn't bleach it would be fine.

I am currently obsessed in incorporating more natural based products into my beauty wardrobe, wether its makeup or skincare, Natural is best.

I was recently on the look out for an alternative to chemically infused hair colour. That's when I discovered Naturigin.

Naturigin are a family-owned danish brand which produce a range of  natural hair colourants free from ammonia, pesticides and parabens....Yes it is possible! and all products contain organic extracts and oils. I was really touched my their story and I straight away was drawn in and soon realised how important it is for us to stop using hair dyes which contain harmful chemicals.

Its time that we paid attention to the ingredients in our products and kept an eye out for those naughty chemicals that are hidden in our hair colourants. I have attached a blog post from Naturigin about Chemicals you should avoid.

Before trying this out, I had no idea what to expect and I wasn't sure if it would give me the results I wanted.  However I was eager to see if it was something I would later convert to... and I have.

Naturigin have 19 shades to choose from and I got my hands on 'Dark Coffee Brown 3.0'. This is one of the darkest shades in the range.  I naturally gravitated towards it as I love darker tones for winter and thought this would give me the ultimate freshen up that my hair needed.

When mixing the activator and colour cream together, I was a little worried that it looked very warm in tone but was hopeful that it would balance out my roots; which were very dark compared to the rest of my hair.

One thing I noticed straight away was that there wasn't that really overpowering chemical smell. When applied onto the hair, The product had a subtle floral scent which  wasn't strong or uncomfortable for me or anyone around.

I started by parting my hair into several sections and then one by one,  I applied the product straight to the roots and massaged them into each section. Once all the roots were covered, I left the dye for around 10 minutes.  I then applied the rest of the bottle to the remaining parts of my hair and combed the colour through from root to tip. Afterwards, I left the hair for 20 minutes to let the dye do its magic.

During that time, I would normally sit there twiddling my fingers or using the end comb to itch my scalp once in a while...does anyone else's head get itchy? and after about 15 minutes I will usually be desperate to wash it off.

With Naturigin, it was a completely different story.... No itchiness, no harsh smells, no desperate need to get it off.  To be honest I completely forgot I even had it on!
Total thumbs all round from me!

When it came to washing off the product, It was super easy. The only thing I would say is that when I was rinsing out the dye, my hair felt very dry and lacking in hydration.

However, like any other hair dye, this kit contains a 'Colour lock' to condition and trap the colour into the hair. This helped straight away to get rid of any dryness I had previously noticed.  This is a gel formula rather than the everyday cream based product. It reminded me more of a shampoo than a conditioner but it did smell gorgeous and a little did go a long way.

Ta Da!

On final results, I was so impressed with the richness of the colour, it has totally transformed my hair.  My hair now looks and feels more healthy and more nourished. I can honestly say that I have been fully converted and for me natural hair dye is the way forward! No more nasties!

I now feel ready to embrace my dark locks for winter!

Where can I find this?
