When it comes to buying skincare...it can get a little overwhelming.
I used to find it quite intimidating walking into clinics and department stores to pick up products.
I had no clue what to look for... I would mostly just look at what my mum had lying in her cupboards and would go buy that or I would be walking around a store looking like a lost pup. Before I knew it, I would be on my way into Superdrug or Boots, picking up any old moisturiser or cleanser that was 'For all skin types' and hoped that I wouldn't break out in some sort of rash when I got home.

Luckily, Dermalogica has made it easier for us when it comes to finding the right product for us.
Detmalogica is a brand that I have wanted to try for years and I was kindly chosen to be a part of the #MyFaceMyStory campaign which is all about discovering skincare and telling our story.
Recently I took a trip to my local Dermalogica salon to be 'Face Mapped'. This is a free service in which you can meet with a specialist and talk through your skincare concerns. Then he/she divides your skin into 14 zones and analyses your skin through a magnified viewer to look at your skin type, texture and condition and will then determine which products are the perfect fit for you.
I have never suffered with problematic skin but right now, I have a lot of enlarged pores, especially around my nose and chin area and I wanted to get rid. I was on the hunt for a product that would help to minimise the appearance of my pores and find skincare that caters for all of my skin needs.

After being 'Face Mapped', the specialist will then write out a tailor made prescription for Dermalogica products that he/she would recommend for you based on your skin analysis. This then makes skincare shopping so much easier when it comes to what to buy in store and also online.
No more panic attacks or feeling like you are completely confused.
Once I ordered my products, It was time to try them out!
This is a oil based first cleanse to help remove makeup and prepares your skin for your second cleanse.
For starters, This feels so luxurious on the skin.
It is super gentle, smells so fresh and once water is applied, this turns into a lovely milk texture and melts all traces of facial makeup.
This has become one of my favourite ever skincare products!
One thing that I learned from going to see the specialist is to not only cleanse the face, but to also cleanse the neck and décolletage and not forgetting your ears! Honestly you may think I'm mad for saying it but next time your cleansing you face give those ears a rub, you will so much better.
One thing I would mention is that this will not get rid of sturdy mascara but works super well in removing facial makeup. After rinsing, this did not leave a film on my skin or make me feeling greasy at all.

Special Cleansing Gel
When it comes to finding the right cleanser, Dermalogica has a range to choose from.
Over the past couple of weeks I have been trying out this foaming gel cleanser. This comes in a 250ml bottle which is fabulous as you only need a very small amount so I know this is gonna last a long time. This cleanser is also soap free and doesn't contain any fragrance.

After the first few days, I actually found that my skin was becoming quite dry and flakey.
Then I realised that I wasn't using this cleanser properly!
Note to self: Always pay attention to the instructions.
Foaming cleansers can sometimes be quite drying anyways and I soon realised that I wasn't foaming up the product in my hands enough before applying it to the face. If you currently suffer from the same problem, give that a little try!
So I persisted, (and by actually using the product the way it should be) and thank god I did because now my skin now feels less dehydrated and has really helped to thoroughly cleanse my skin leaving it looking bright and free from dirt and grime.
Multi-Active Toner
I am already such a fan of spray toners and couldn't wait to try this out! I love spray toners as they are just so simple to use and I like to carry a bottle in my back when I'm on the go and looking for a quick refresh during the day!
I predominantly use this after the foaming cleanser and this helps to give my skin and instant hydration boost and also helps to seal my pores after my second cleanse. Again, This comes in a trusty 250ml bottle and is formulated without artificial fragrances.
This smells beautiful! It has a tangy orange scent without being too overpowering and doesn't leave me feeling sticky.
Skin Refining Masque
I was really keen to get my hands on this mask as it specifically helps to remove excess oil that can generate congestion and enlarged pores. This is a gentle white clay mask which doesn't flake or harden when dry, it is very comfortable on the skin and can be washed off after 10 minutes. This is perfect to use as a quick morning mask or it can also be used in the evening for a good old pamper sesh.
I like to focus on using this on my T-zone, especially around the nose where I tend to get a bit clogged up. After regular use I have noticed that my pores are visually smaller and my skin is looking healthier. I am looking forward to hopefully seeing some more positive results after more regular use!
