The Instafamous Highlighter You Need In Your Life Right Now

Hello Gorgeous!

When it comes to highlighter, I personally don't think you can ever have enough.
 (cue, tin man gif.)

Over the past few months, I have been trying out different highlighters and illuminators..the good, the bad and the damn right nasty and this one came out on top, above the rest.  Social media has recently gone mad over this highlighter from Iconic London and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!

These illuminator drops really are a little drop of heaven.  This liquid based highlight has unbelievable shine, pigment and all over fabulousness and will have you on your way to achieving that J-Lo Glow we all want, in a heartbeat.

This is a multi purpose product that can be used not only for the face but for the whole body too. I like to add this to my daily moisturiser to help give my skin a gorgeous healthy glow and by night,  I  like to apply this on its own to the legs to help to get those sunkissed pins on a night out!

One thing I was a little apprehensive about was that it would feel super heavy on the skin however to my surprise, it feels very breathable and never ever feels like I'm caked in makeup.

Whilst the super glowy look may not be for everyone, you can add as much or as little as you want. It contains a drop applicator to help limit the usage of product used; and also keeps you from wasting any product too. A little really does go along way, On a normal day,  I typically use 2-3 drops on the face. It's not chunky or streaky either, it's very smooth and super blendable. I like to apply this using my beauty blender which also helps to achieve that more natural finish.

This illuminator comes in three shades. This particular one is in 'Original' which has a slight champagne hue. At first, I was worried that this may be too dark for my pasty Scottish skin but it was actually perfect! This also comes in 'Shine' which is the lightest shade and contains a more pink hue to the skin. The darkest shade is 'Glow' which is perfect for deeper skin tones and gives off a more golden look.

At £29.99, this isn't the cheapest of products but trust me when I say it is totally worth it.

Fancy a wee look for yourself, click the link here

Luxury vs Affordable: Ysl 'Touche éclat' vs 'Wow Concealer' by Seventeen Cosmetics

Hello Gorgeous!

When it comes to buying makeup , Do luxury products really perform better than those at the drugstore?

That's what we are about to find out!
It has been so long since I last posted (Moving house is a big bag of stress balls) but Im back with a new mini series and we are going to be putting make-up to the test! Im going to be breaking down both luxury and affordable products to see which performs better according to lasting effect, colour, blend ability and all round fantasticalness.

Over the years, I have been a massive fan of 'Touche éclat' by YSL and it soon became one of my holy grail handbag go-to's that I just could not live without. But at £25 a pop, I was on the hunt for a drugstore dupe that could work just as well to brighten and lighten those dark circles. Luckily,  I recently came across the 'WOW' Concealer from Seventeen Cosmetics, and at a fraction of the price (£4.99) I was eager to give it a go.

Highlight/Concealer sticks are perfect to use on the go and are great to apply under the eyes for an extra brighten boost. They are also really handy to slot into your makeup bag and handbag and can be used over and underneath your makeup.

At first glance, both products look similar.
The first thing I noticed was the difference in weight. The YSL highlighter was significantly heavier than the more affordable alternative making it feel more luxurious. I think it would also be good to mention that you get the same amount of product in each bottle (2.5ml). When it comes to the brush, The YSL brush is slightly shorter and the bristles are also somewhat more densely packed than Seventeen's.

As we can see from the pictures (below) both products are different in terms of tone. I picked up the shade number '1' in the 'Touche éclat' and the lightest shade 'Fair' in the Wow Concealer. The luxury option is a lot more pink in tone which helps neutralise any blue or purple under the eyes compared to the affordable option which is more of a yellow base to help brighten and cancel any redness.

When applied, both products are applied in the same way, by using the pump up applicator and is then applied straight to the eye area.  During application, The consistency of the 'WOW' concealer is certainly a lot thicker and also dries very easily on the skin. This needs to be blended quickly so that  it doesn't turn patchy. If left for too long, I found that I ended up having to heavily drag the product around the eye area in order to try and blend it out properly . In Contrast, The YSL Concealer is light in consistency which is super easy to work with, blends seamlessly and it didn't cake or dry out.

In terms of coverage, I would say that both are pretty equal however the WOW concealer did have that edge. It proved to brighten my under eyes a little more compared to the other which gave more of a natural look.

Throughout the course of the day, both concealers did last pretty well! I did notice however that the Seventeen Concealer stick did crease after a couple of hours and I did have to blend it out with a beauty blender to try to combat concealer lines.  On the other hand, Touche éclat was long lasting and I was able to apply it hours later without the use of a mirror and still blended out beautifully.

Overall, I would say that both products didn't disappoint but personally 'Touch éclat' will always be my favourite. For those who want good coverage and an affordable option,  I would absolutely recommend anyone to try out the Wow Concealer from Seventeen Cosmetics. But in Terms of performance and how easy the product was to apply, YSL wins it for me!

Keep an eye out for the next Luxury VS Affordable post as it will be coming VERY soon!

Stay Golden!

Soley Icelandic Yarrow Cleansing Foam Review

Happy New Year Everyone!

As we begin a new year, Its a good idea to start looking at whats missing from our skincare wardrobe. So what better way to start with a simple cleanser. Im kicking off the first blogpost of the year with a review of the Soley 'Fersk White Cleansing Foam' which was sent to me by Naturally Better You. 'Naturally Better You' are a website which showcase natural and organic skincare brands including Weleda, Dead Sea Spa Magik and of course 'Soley'. They also make our skincare shopping experience easier by filtering skincare products into specific categories and skincare concerns so that you can find the exact product for your needs.

For those who haven't heard of Soley, They are a luxury organic skincare brand which handpick their ingredients with wild Icelandic herbs. This brand was founded back in 2007 by Icelandic film and theatre actress 'Soley Eliasdottir' and all of Soley's products are completely cruelty free and are 100% natural.

The first thing that I noticed online was how pure and simple this cleanser looked. (cheeky Hear'say reference there, did anyone else love that band? Im sorry I'm sidetracking...)

Well it didn't disappoint, This is such a super simple, easy cleanser. It can be used morning and/or evening. I personally like to use this in the morning as it is very light on the skin and feels super refreshing and hydrating with the help of the main ingredient of pure Icelandic water. I mean what could be more lovely!

When trying this for the first time, I was very surprised by how foaming this cleanser actually was. I only ever need to use one pump and it lathers up beautifully (as shown). To apply, I massage the cleanser into my hands and then apply all over the face. I then massage the product in circular motions until it transforms into a creamy milk. The scent is very light which is inspired by the cleansers Icelandic name 'Fersk' meaning fresh. It is very citrusy and fruity and also contains notes of lavender which helps to soothe any redness or puffiness that the skin may have. I find this is perfect to use at this time of the year as the winter weather has certainly taken its toll on my skin and anything that will help to get rid of my red bits then we are onto a winner!

However when it comes to removing makeup, I wouldn't reach for this to remove heavy eye makeup or heavy liner. It does work well to get rid of foundation and face makeup but as it is very light, It didn't fully remove my mascara.

As a whole, I would say that if you are looking for an everyday morning cleanser and enjoy using luxury skincare then I would recommend trying this one out.  It has worked well in removing any redness that I have and my skin looks and feels more refreshed. The only issue I have is that it doesn't work wonders in removing eye makeup but if you fancy a light easy foaming cleanser,  then this may be for you!

Where can I find this??

This 200ml cleanser is available now from Naturally Better You.

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and a happy New Year and if you fancy trying this cleanser out, I would love if you could get in touch and let me know your thoughts!

Bloomtown Botanicals: The Ultimate Pamper Products

Hello Lovely!

Bloomtown Botanicals are an organic skincare company which use botanical ingredients to create pure, natural and nourishing products. I love all aspects of beauty and I strongly believe that the key to great skin is great skincare. I was kindly sent out some of their products to try out and today I will be giving my honest review.

I am a big fan in using botanical skincare. Right now everyone is crying out for natural skincare and more and more people want to be using natural ingredients in their skincare routine. I have always loved using organic brands like the likes of Liz Earle, Ren and Elemis and I was very excited to try out some of Bloomtown's products. This brand proudly handcrafts all of their products in their own workshop in Cornwall and all of these products are free from palm oil, animal products, parabens and synthetic colours. Bloomtown also donate a percentage of their profits to animal rescue and enviromental charities.

I can honestly say as a whole that I love this collection. I was so surprised by the quality of these products and I will be repurchasing in the future. There are many scents to choose from and so many products to use for a perfect pamper session.

'The Woods' Organic Hand & Body Wash

£12.00

'The Woods' is a unisex scent which is fresh yet earthy with notes of cedar wood, bergamot and coconut extract. This hand and body wash is extremely nourishing and works perfectly to cleanse the body and help you feel revitalized and ready for the day ahead. This bottle is eco friendly and can also be recycled.

'The Hedgerow' Exfoliating & Moisturising Sugar Scrub

£12.00

This scrub isn't as dry as some of the other sugar scrubs on the market. 'The Hedgerow' scent is rich with notes of blackberry and honeysuckle and the sugar helps to act as a natural exfoliant. Say goodbye to dry dehydrated skin and say hello to soft silkiness! We need to look after our skin in winter too!

'The Rose Garden' Roll on Perfume Oils

£4.80

This is so handy for a quick freshen up on the go! I am not usually a fan of rose scents as I find It a little overpowering but this is isn't sickly or too strong, it is a subtle oil fragrance. It is a roll on that you can pop easily into your handbag and apply onto your pulse points throughout the day for an extra oomph of scent. What is also great about having a perfume oil is that it sinks deep into the skin and it is very long lasting.

'The Meadow' Pink Himalayan Salt Soak

£10.00

Bath salts have been around forever, to honest I usually keep bags of the stuff hidden at the back of my drawer and they are never seen again.
However
These salts are very powerful and after sprinkling a few specs into the bath, the whole bathroom is filled with a sweet aroma of scents! 'The Meadow' is packed full of pamper pleasures such as lavender, rose and soothing chamomile. Perfect for a night of relaxation!

'The Cafe' Scent Infused Candle

£12.00

It isn't a pamper evening without a load of candles! I am a bit of a candle freak and I am always on the hunt for new and unique scents. 'The Cafe' is a warming scented candle filled with notes of hazelnut, coffee and cocoa. This scent would be great to burn on those cosy winter evenings with loved ones!  These candles are hand poured and made from natural wax and are also beautifully packaged....I am a little obsessed to say the least. If you are looking for new candles this season, be sure to check out this range.

'The Grove' Mini Travel Soaps

£3.50

Who would have thought travel soaps could be so good! These mini heart soaps may look small but they certainly pack a punch! 'The Grove' is a burst of fruit flavours including blood orange and pink grapefruit. They are super handy to use on the go and also lather up nicely and help to keep our hands clean and smelling fresh.

I would like to say a big thank you to Preyanka for sending me these products to try out! I am a big fan and I would recommend all of you lovely people to check them out!

Review: Nu Skin Products & 20% Off Discount Code

Hello Lovely!

Today I am writing a post about Nu Skin Products.
Nu Skin are a brand that you have probably seen before. There are many distributors all over social media right now and I wanted to try out some of these products and put them to the test. I can honestly say that I was rather sceptical before trying out these products and today I will be giving you my honest opinion on a few products from the brand that were kindly sent for me to review.

AP-24 Whitening Toothpaste

£10.00

This whitening toothpaste is a product I would say that I would buy again! It is totally bleach free and wont harm your gums and teeth. This is used just like a normal toothpaste, twice a day and after the first few uses, I have noticed that my teeth do look noticeably whiter and I must say I'm a little addicted!

Epoch Marine Mud Mask

£26.00

I have been on the lookout for a mud mask for a wee while and I was excited to try out this product. When opening this mask, my first impressions were that it was very runny and unfortunately product did leak out without me squeezing the bottle. This product is to be applied onto the face in a thin layer and left approximately for 15- 20 minutes, personally I only needed to leave it on for about 10 minutes as It did dry extremely quickly. When washing off this product, my skin felt super soft and smooth. Over the past two weeks and after regular use, I did actually find that my pores were a less noticeable and my skin did feel fresh.

Nu Colour Eyelash Treatment

£30.00

This eyelash treatment is more of a add on product, I wouldn't say that everyone necessarily needs it in their collection but If you are big on skincare and beauty then its a nice little bonus product. I like that it can be used as an eyelash treatment as well as an eyebrow treatment, I have used this mainly for my brows to strengthen and lengthen my brow hairs #boldbrows and all that! I like use it also as a eyebrow gel on those chill out days when I'm going for a natural brow day.

Nu Skin 180 Face Wash

£43.00

I am totally cleanser obsessive, So I was definitely looking forward to trying out this face wash. This cleanser is said to contain '10% Vitamin C to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles'. The product itself is a thick gel and at first I wasn't really fan of the texture. However once applied to the skin it breaks down into a cream and it is also warming on the face. Once water is applied, this face wash transforms into a milk and removes all traces of makeup. I was super surprised as it even removed the toughest of waterproof mascaras....and trust me, It was bulletproof mascara!

Nu Colour Mascara

£25.00

This is my favourite product from the whole collection. My personal favourite mascaras are the YSL Faux Cils Mascara and the Too Faced 'Better than Sex' mascara which are also around the same price range. This curling mascara certainly didn't disappoint. It helps to lengthen my lashes whist holding a curl and also gives natural volume without clumping. This mascara did transfer a little onto the lid as we can see here but not much. I have hooded eyes so this does tend to happen.

Pharmanex Tegreen Capsules

£24.00 for 30 Capsules

£73.00 for 120 Capsules

Pharmanex capsules are a food supplement which contains green tea extract. green tea is full of antioxidants and I think this would be great for someone who doesn't like to drink green tea but still wants the same benefits. This is to be taken in the morning with food and drink and helps boost metabolism and detoxify the body. Over the past two weeks, I haven't noticed many changes but perhaps over a longer period of time I might see the results.

Tru Eyes Eye Cream

£45.00

Do you suffer from dark circles? I know certainly do!.  This eye cream claims to help transform your eyes from dull and puffy to bright and radiant. After trying out this product, I can't say that I have recently noticed a change in the appearance of my skin however this eye cream is comfortable to wear and also doesn't irritate my skin.

Epoch Sole Solution

£22.00

This Foot treatment is great for those who suffer with dry and cracked skin. It is a thick formula and is perfect for keeping your skin hydrated! This product can not only be used on the feet, but also can be used for other places that tend to get very dry like our elbows and knees! This cream has a very light berry fragrance and the scent isn't overpowering. I like to use this as an overnight treatment so that the product soaks deep into the skin.

In Conclusion, I would say that I was very sceptical to start off with but some of the products do work well. Yes, these products are expensive. I myself, do not mind spending money on great skincare as I believe that your skin is number one. Some people love cars or shoes or gadgets.... I love skincare! However, Personally I think that the packaging lets it down...It isn't the be all and end all, but if I am going to spend a lot of money on a luxury product then I would like the product to scream luxury to me.

My favourite product out of the collection would have to be the mascara! Its super easy to use and It will now be placed into my go-to pile!

Where can I find these products??

Review: Pure Chimp Matcha Tea And DIY Face Mask

Hello Everyone!

In today's post, I will be giving my review on a Matcha green tea which was sent for me to review from the lovely team at Pure Chimp. Before receiving this product, I was a total matcha virgin and had no idea what to expect. Over the years, I have used green tea's -  my favourite being peppermint, but I wanted to know why we should be using matcha in particular and what benefits does it really have.

After testing out this product and also after some research, I cant believe I haven't tried this sooner!  Green Tea has been around for ages, however matcha tea is becoming increasingly popular and now I know why!

Benefits of Matcha

Boosts Metabolism
Lowers Cholestrol and blood sugar
Naturally detoxifies body
Increases energy levels- YAY!
Full of antioxidants

Matcha green tea has been said to have 137 times more antioxidants than a regular green tea.

This super tea by Pure Chimp also is 100% natural and is also vegan friendly!

On first impressions, I enjoyed using a powder tea as I was control in how much product I could use and I also like that I can use this product for other things. In addition, it is also very easy to make, just add a teaspoon of powder, add water and a dash of honey and you are good to go! It can be enjoyed hot or cold but personally I prefer it hot! I always add honey into my cup of matcha- I try not to use it all the time, but without it I find it tastes a little bitter.

Since using this tea, I have noticed an increase in my energy levels during the day and It has also opened my eyes to using more natural ingredients in everyday life.

Matcha powder can also be used in smoothies, baking and foods. You can find some exciting recipes with matcha in the link below!

As you may know, I am all about multi purpose products and Matcha is now being released as a main ingredient in skincare. Why not try matcha tea in its purest form as a face mask which you can try out at home!

Why is this mask good for my skin?

A matcha green tea mask is great for the skin as it helps combat rosacea and reduces inflammation and also brightens the skin. In addition, matcha also helps to protect us from free radical damage and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Matcha Tea Face Mask

1 teaspoon of matcha powder
a drop of water
Coconut oil or honey

Mix together and apply onto face.
Leave for 15-20 minutes and rinse off.

Caution: After removing this product, it did leave a green stain on my face!
If this happens to you, Don't panic! after a couple of rinses it will fade.  I would recommend that you apply this at night. If after rinsing you still are rocking a green face then apply a homemade sugar scrub to remove.

Where can I find this and how much is this product?

Matcha Green tea powder: £11.95

New Seventeen Mega Matte Lipsticks & Cream Bronzer

Hello Lovely!

As a self obsessed makeup geek. I love nothing more than finding little hidden gems in the drugstore. By drugstore, I mean Boots, Superdrug etc. (UK). I am pretty new to Seventeen cosmetics and I was uber excited to try out some of their products. In today's post I will be giving my low down on two of the new 'Mega Matte' lipsticks and also the 'Instant Glow Cream Bronzer'.

I must confess I was a teeny bit apprehensive when it came to using cream based products. My past experiences with cream products haven't been the best so to speak.... A Patchy makeup job springs to mind. However, I am coming round it and I am now using cream products more frequently as I do like how fresh and hydrated the skin looks when applied.

My top tip: Apply cream based products after foundation and THEN apply powder based products. If you apply powder first then add cream bronzers and blushes then yes Patchy McGee you will be...from my experience anyways.

This Cream Bronzer is really lovely!
Its super easy to blend and its a perfect product for contouring and for an all over sun kissed look.  Its also great to use on the go! No brushes needed, Apply this product with your fingers and blend onto the cheeks for a golden glow and before you know it your done!
No streaks, no dodgy muddy patches, No more stress!!

Matte lipsticks are everywhere right now and I was so excited when I received the new mega matte lipsticks from the lovely ladies from Boots at Seventeen . I am a fan of matte lipsticks however as I suffer from dry lips, this type of finish usually doesn't work out well for me. Usually, if I apply a matte lip then half way through the day I always want to take it off.

However these lipsticks are very creamy in texture and apply very easily. They dry quickly but they didn't feel like they were drying out my lips and I could comfortably wear it all day long.

'Pinking out loud' is a cool toned light pink shade and I am loving the Ed Sheeran reference!
But unfortunately this shade is too light for my skin tone and It just doesn't suit me at all. I do have slightly fair skin however I felt this this shade wore me out. I would also say that when I applied this onto the lips, it did exaggerate any dry patches that I did already have and it did put me off a little.

But all is not lost, because I have fallen hard for this lipstick!
'No Corals' is a gorgeous pinky red shade.....It's coral paige! . It is highly pigmented and I never feel the need to re apply! To add, I think this would be the perfect shade to take you straight through to winter and I can see myself carrying this in my handbag over the next few months. Its a cracker!

Where can I buy this and How much are these products?

Seventeen products are available to buy from Boots

Cream Bronzer : £4.99
Mega Matte Lipsticks : £4.49

Lots of Love
